Profile
When a Spanish architect chooses us to help design and build her family home, it says something powerful about the trust and expertise behind Eco Vida Homes.
Our clients, Naiara Vegara, a Madrid-born architect, and her English husband, Simon Mawdsley, dreamed of returning to Naiara’s hometown to raise their young family in a home that reflected both style and substance. They had already spotted a plot of land in Fuente del Fresno – a leafy, well-connected neighbourhood northeast of Madrid, but they needed certainty.
The Challenges They Faced Building the Villa in Madrid
Even with Naiara’s professional background, the couple were dealing with the same hurdles every family faces when building a home in Spain:
-
Was the land viable for their vision?
-
Would the local planning regulations allow them to build what they wanted?
-
Could their dream home be delivered within budget, before committing to buy the plot?
How Eco Vida Homes Helped
That’s where we stepped in. Our team conducted due diligence on the land, double-checked the planning regulations with the local authority, and built a realistic budget model so Naiara and Simon could make their purchase with confidence.
With the land secured, Naiara naturally crafted her own concept design – a home full of light, space, and originality. We loved her bold approach:
-
No wasted corridors – just flowing, open-plan living.
-
Generous light-filled spaces on both floors.
-
Personal touches everywhere – from a sculptural staircase to the wallpaper in the guest bathroom, a bespoke render finish outside, and a flexible playroom/gymnasium for their growing children.
-
A seamless connection between the kitchen, shaded terrace, and a retractable glass wall that opens the house entirely to the garden.
