Climate Action Leeds (CAL) was an ambitious, five-year partnership funded by The National Lottery's Climate Action Fund. CAL's approach focused on mobilising communities, campaign groups, and sectors to plan and act together. Over 40 groups in Leeds contributed to planning the project, and it is supported by many more.

Loads of groups, organisations, and people in Leeds are doing lots to try to tackle climate change and climate and social injustices. Leeds City Council declares a climate emergency, thanks to campaigning by many people and groups. The National Lottery launch a Climate Action Fund.

Over 40 Leeds groups come together to write the bid for the Climate Action Fund and to plan a city-wide programme of activity, which could create lasting change by mobilising communities, campaign groups, and sector groups to plan and act together. The Leeds Climate Emergency Community Action Programme is granted funding! The goal is to create a zero carbon, nature friendly, socially just Leeds by the 2030s.

By building a movement of connected and engaged communities Five areas of work, called 'work packages', are devised in the plan - managed by five lead organisations. The activity planned spans: energy, housing, food, nature, work & economy, youth & education, transport, and climate justice.
