The company was formed in March 2021 when Sean Walsh and Matthew Dilworth set up Deep Retrofit Ltd. With years of combined experience in the Irish Energy sector Sean and Matthew felt there was a huge demand from homeowners for independent and professional advice on the comprehensive range of energy upgrade measures and SEAI grants available. SEAI grants provide huge opportunities to homeowners but often they do not have the information needed to choose the most cost-effective solution and get the maximum grants available for their project.

Our consultants will bring the most up to date advice to homeowners as to how to upgrade their homes to the best quality and within budget. Deep Retrofit can get homeowners access to a wide range of grants, from individual grants to the BEC scheme using various channels and contacts we have built up. Séan first became an Energy Consultant in 2009 while studying Construction Management in MTU where he graduated with an honours degree.

He went straight into a position as building and land surveyor with a market leading Irish surveying company where he worked across the UK and Ireland. In 2015 Sean took up a position as sales manager with a prominent construction insulation sales company where he gained vast knowledge on insulation materials and installation best practice. As work built up in the energy sector in late 2017 Séan decided to devote all of his time to Energy Consultancy and set up Walsh Energy Rating.

Séan has completed over 8,000 energy audits over the last 12 years, he has provided consultancy services across Munster ranging from one off home owners to large construction companies. He has built up a portfolio of contacts in the Irish retrofit market and specialises in retrofit design, project cost savings and attention to detail at construction stage. As he has completed several Retrofit and new build projects on his own properties, he has access to a myriad of reputable retrofit contractors and companies in the Munster region.
