DTA Architects is a design oriented practice with a commitment to and reputation for quality of architectural design and client service at all stages from initial brief definition to the delivery of completed buildings, ranging across various scales and sectors for both public and private clients. In particular DTA Architects are recognised as a leading practice in residential design, advocating quality of the highest standards in housing design as an essential long-term investment in sustainable built communities, with unique experience and particular expertise in high density urban/ suburban sites and typological innovation. DTA also have considerable experience in master-planning and urban design, with an inherent concern and a successful track record with urban form, the public realm and place making.

A proven ability to deliver appropriate and sustainable design solutions for complex building programmes in challenging contexts, with an emphasis on tectonic clarity and rigour, underpins the work of the practice, as recognised in numerous AAI, RIAI, RTPI, UIA, IDI and other awards, including the AAI Downes Medal and the unique achievement of winning the RIAI Housing Medal on three occasions – in 2001 for the Printworks Temple Bar, in 2007 for Clarion Quay, IFSC, Dublin Docklands (as part of Urban Projects) and in 2015 for Social and Affordable Housing at Santry Demesne Fingal. The practice was founded in 2005 by Niall Rowan and Derek Tynan (as an incorporation of Derek Tynan Architects) and is led by Niall Rowan with co-directors John Maguire and Leanne Martin, it is RIAI Registered and holds an RIAI Grade III Conservation Accreditation.
