Back then it was a neglected 10 acre strip with most of the land over run with rushes.

This is probably the origin of the name ‘gort’ meaning ‘field’ and ‘breac’ meaning ’speckled’( in the Irish language) With many willing hands it has developed into a comprehensive certified organic smallholding. It is an award winning farm working in a number of areas including; Eco Landscaping, teaching how to grow local organic food, developing school gardens, biodiversity and we also provide Cabin Accommodation. The farm has a diverse range of ecological & native Irish habitats, ranging from ponds to a strip of wild bog land, wildlife habitats including native hedgerows, woodlands, ditches and stonewalls, organic vegetables, herbs, tunnels (all weather), composting, reed bed systems, ducks and donkeys.

Three timber frame cabins, run off solar panels with wood burning stoves. They are very well insulated, so are warm and cosy no matter what the weather is like. Wake up every morning in the beautiful peace and tranquility of Gortbrack, take a wander on the bog and explore the Dingle peninsula, the Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park.

We are also close to Tralee town and The Wild Atlantic Way. It is the ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. Each cabin has a fitted kitchen, a wet shower / bathroom, oak and tile floors throughout.
