ID Environmental Consultants is a group of ecologists, farmers and agricultural consultants who take a multidisciplinary approach to tackling ecological and agricultural problems. We use a mixture of traditional science and land management techniques along with modern surveying and mapping technologies to understand the issues at hand. We provide clear, concise reporting, maps and plans to our clients.

We aim to provide the best possible outcomes for our clients and the environment. ID Environmental Consultants was founded by Ian Douglas, a native of Co. Meath, who grew up working on his family’s beef and sheep farm.

Ian holds a BSc in Environmental Management from DIT and a MSc in Agriculture and Environmental Science from Newcastle University. Ian started his career as a Soil and Agricultural Scientist, working in the UK and Australia. While in Australia he learned the importance of soil biology, soil health and regenerative agriculture.

Working in an environmentally constrained country he learnt the importance of building resilient ecological and agricultural systems that can withstand extremes of climate. In Ireland, Ian has been working as an Ecologist with Flynn Furney Environmental Consultants, where he retains an Associate Directorship position. Ian specialises in Appropriate Assessment, GIS, Nature Trail Design, Ecological Impact Assessment, Habitat Creation and Agro-ecology.
