The Carbon Literacy Project is an UN-recognised, multi-award-winning initiative at the forefront of certified climate learning globally. It exists to provide everyone with access to Carbon Literacy®: the recognised global benchmark for climate understanding and action. Delivered by UK charity The Carbon Literacy Trust , the Project empowers individuals, organisations and communities with the knowledge, skills and motivation to take real, measurable action on climate change.

As an internationally recognised accreditation body, the Project certifies individuals as Carbon Literate, and accredits courses, trainers, organisations and localities against Carbon Literacy® Standards – not delivering training directly, but providing the frameworks to enable others to do so, at scale and with impact. At The Carbon Literacy Project, our mission is to establish a global low-carbon culture by driving behaviour change through Carbon Literacy. We exist to close the gap between knowledge and action, equipping people everywhere with climate competence.

Too often, climate change feels distant or distorted by misinformation. Carbon Literacy is our response: practical, scalable training that turns learning into immediate action, and cascades change from individuals to organisations, sectors, and communities. We envision a world where carbon awareness is the norm, and climate action is embedded into everyday life, decision-making, and organisational culture.

We believe everyone should have access to clear, credible climate learning that builds the confidence and agency to take meaningful action. We believe that lasting decarbonisation must be people-led, and happens through cultural shifts across organisations, sectors, and society.
