The McGinnis Group was founded by John McGinnis in 1978 and in the intervening 40 years has grown to become one of the most respected home builders in the UK. In addition to building new homes, the McGinnis Group has successfully delivered a series of major regeneration projects across the province over the past three decades. These projects have included accommodation for government, educational institutions and blue chip retail operators.

McGinnis Group was one of the pioneers of the UK Governments ‘Private Finance Initiative’ and as part of a consortium constructed 300,000 sq ft of educational accommodation on a design, build, own and operate basis. Throughout his career, Mr McGinnis has received numerous Government appointments having taken up board positions on the strategic direction of Northern Ireland and the Industrial Development Board (predecessor to Invest Northern Ireland). John travelled extensively in North America in the years leading up to the Good Friday agreement, promoting economic prospects for NI and securing Inward Investment and job creating opportunities to help seal the peace process.

In recognition for his work in regeneration, Mr McGinnis was awarded an OBE in 2001. John received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ulster in 2009 for his contribution to Industry in Northern Ireland. He now sits as a Director on the University of Ulster Foundation board.
