The Peace Plus Nature programme is an ambitious, cross-border initiative committed to a bold vision: reversing the decline of priority habitats and species across the eligible areas in Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland. The focus will be to restore over 18,600 hectares of Natura 2000 sites and recover key populations like the Hen Harrier, Lapwing, Curlew and Corncrake.  PeacePlus Nature is a unique €20.8 million cross-border partnership bringing together 9 organisations to deliver lasting benefits for nature and climate.

The PeacePlus Nature Programme will restore habitats, support species recovery, and deliver nature-based solutions at scale around Northern Ireland and border counties of Ireland, helping to bring wildlife back from the brink. PeacePlus Nature delivers real social, scientific, and economic value, creating benefits for communities, research, and local economies through collaborative conservation. There are opportunities to get involved – from communities and landowners to volunteers and partner organisations – working together for a more resilient natural environment.

The programme will work to restore blanket bog, lowland wet grasslad, limestone grassland and priority species including Curlew, Corncrake, Hen Harrier, Small Blue Butterfly and Irish Damselfly. The partnership includes RSPB NI, BirdWatch Ireland, Butterfly Conservation, Monaghan County Council, River Blackwater Catchment Trust, Truagh Development Association, Lough Neagh Partnership, NI Water and An Taisce.
